one day, we will all return to the earth. therefore, we like to work with earth to create the vessel that takes us there, as well as for the sculptures to honor it.
we work with a volcanic clay that turns almost black after baking, and we leave it mostly unglazed. the dark and minimal rawness refers to flemish traditional paintings where tough country life was often depicted in dark colors, images so tactual that the observer almost feels and smells the heavy earth and the hard life.
the ceramic works are reminiscent of the earth from which they came; their forms and textures evoking rocky landscapes and geological phenomena.
